AWS S3 storage cost calculator

Enter how much data you keep in S3 and how many requests you make to get the monthly bill, then compare every storage class for the same data to see where archiving pays off.

How to use it

  1. Enter the amount of data in GB and pick the storage class it sits in.
  2. Enter monthly PUT and GET requests in thousands. Request prices here are Standard's.
  3. Compare the same data across all classes in the table, keeping retrieval fees and minimum storage durations in mind.

Frequently asked questions

How is S3 Standard priced?

In tiers per GB-month: $0.023 for the first 50 TB, $0.022 for the next 450 TB and $0.021 above that, in us-east-1.

When is Glacier cheaper?

For data you rarely read. Archive classes cost a fraction of Standard to store, but charge retrieval fees, have minimum storage durations of 30 to 180 days, and slower or paid access.

What are request charges?

PUT, COPY, POST and LIST cost $0.005 per 1,000 requests and GET costs $0.0004 per 1,000 on Standard. Millions of tiny objects can cost more in requests than in storage.

What is left out?

Retrieval fees, early-deletion charges, lifecycle transition requests, data transfer out and S3 Intelligent-Tiering monitoring fees.
