Frequently asked questions

How does GitHub bill Actions minutes?

Each job is rounded up to the next whole minute and billed at the per-minute rate of its runner. Your plan includes free minutes for standard hosted runners, and larger runners are always billed.

Are public repositories free?

Standard GitHub-hosted runners are free for public repositories. Private repositories use the included minutes, then pay the per-minute rate.

Why do Windows and macOS use up free minutes faster?

Included minutes are measured in Linux-equivalent time: a Windows minute counts as 2 and a macOS minute as 10 against the free allowance.

How accurate are the prices?

They are GitHub's published list prices as of the date shown on the page. GitHub can change them, so check docs.github.com for the current table before budgeting.
